  • How do promotional codes work?

    Promotional Offer Rules and Requirements
    1. Promotional offers ("Offer") open to US residents only.
    2. Offer valid only for households not already known to TradeKing.
      • A household is one physical mailing address.
      • One Offer per household.
      • Previous account holders are ineligible.
    3. Certain Offers are not transferable.
    4. Cannot be combined with any other Offer.
    5. Offer outstanding only during stated term of promotion.
    6. Promotional code must be entered into the promotional field online at the time of initial account application to be eligible for offer payment. If no promotion code is available, user must click directly from a link, which creates a unique electronic cookie, to be eligible for offer payment. Therefore, the user's cookie setting must be enabled. Promotional activity is tracked through this link and electronic cookie. TradeKing is not required to pay for any referrals that do not follow the link in any promotional email or banner advertisements or whose cookies are not enabled.
    7. Offer valid only for qualifying investment accounts in good standing. Cash based Offers exclude retirement accounts. Account types that don't qualify for cash based Offers include: traditional IRA, ROTH IRA, Rollover IRA, SEP IRA, Simple IRA, Solo 401K, Coverdell IRA and Tradeking Advisors Accounts.
    8. Unless specified differently as part of a special promotion, payment of Offer will be made when the following occurs:
      • Account is funded with a minimum of $2,500 within 30 days of account opening.
      • One trade is executed in the new account within 180 days.
      • The minimum funds of $2,500 must remain in the account (minus any trading losses) for a minimum of 180 days or the credit may be surrendered.
    9. If client withdraws funds (via ACH, check request, ACAT, or wire transfer) that result in a balance below minimum funding requirement (for example, $2,500 minus any trading losses) within 180 days of payment of Offer reward, Offer rewards are subject to forfeit and will be returned to TradeKing.
    10. If reward payment is made in error, or is determined to be the result of deceptive practices, then TradeKing reserves the right to reverse payment of reward.
    11. This Offer can be terminated or altered at any time, without notice.
    12. Unless specified differently as part of a special promotion, Offer reward payments will be made to qualifying accounts that meet the reward requirements within 90 days.
    13. Offer participants must operate in good faith. In addition, participants must have the intention of maintaining a brokerage relationship with TradeKing.
    14. Employees of TradeKing and companies affiliated with TradeKing, and those ineligible by law, are ineligible for Offers.

  • What does the status column mean when looking at my Refer-a-Friend referrals?

    Email Sent
    The email has been sent, but your friend hasn't responded yet. You can send them a reminder if you'd like.

    Incomplete
    Your referral has opened an account but hasn't yet met the requirements (funding and trading) to complete the referral.

    Complete
    Status complete. Your referral has met the requirements of the Refer-a-Friend program and your account will be credited with the reward. Please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to appear in your account upon completion of requirements. Don't forget, referral rewards must remain in your account for at least six months.

    Ineligible
    The person that you referred is ineligible. Referrals are usually ineligible if they had an account with TradeKing prior to your referral, or because they share your address. See Payment Rules and Eligibility Requirements for complete program rules. Note that this status may be showing up if you only hold an ineligible account type (such as an IRA or Tradeking Advisors Account).

    Expired
    Referrals expire after six months. You can delete them from your dashboard and re-send the referral, if you'd like.

    Opted out
    Your referral has declined to participate in the Refer-a-Friend program. You will not be eligible for a referral reward, even if your referral decides to open an account.

  • Refer a Friend Payment Rules and Eligibility Requirements

    How do I refer my friends through Facebook or Twitter?

    Click the "Refer Your Friends" tab while logged into your TradeKing account, then the Facebook or Twitter icon on the right-hand side of your screen to begin the referral process. If you are not logged into Facebook or Twitter, you will be prompted to do so. Follow the on-screen instructions to share your personalized link with your friends. Your friends must sign up through your personalized link to ensure you are properly credited.

    How does TradeKing know I referred my friends?

    Your friends must sign up through your unique, personalized link to ensure you are properly credited. In order for your personalized link to function correctly, your friends must have cookies enabled in their browsers.

    Can I refer someone else who lives at my address?

    Sorry, but people you refer cannot reside at an address of any current TradeKing client.

    What kind of accounts do my friends need to open to qualify?

    Your friends must open a new non-retirement accounts, fund with $3,000 and then place 3 trades within 90 days. Account types that don't qualify for cash based Offers include: traditional IRA, ROTH IRA, Rollover IRA, SEP IRA, Simple IRA, Solo 401K, Coverdell IRA, and Tradeking Advisors Accounts.

    When will I receive my referral credit?

    After your account has been opened for 90 days, we will review your account to make sure the requirements have been met. If the account is a new non-retirement account, has $3,000 or more in equity, and has placed 3 trades, then you will receive your credit. Please allow up to 5-7 business days from the time of review for your credit to appear.
