Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM (DJIA)

a price-weighted index composed of 30 blue chip stocks which are among the largest and most widely held public companies in the U.S. The DJIA aims to provide a clear, straightforward view of the U.S. stock market and, by extension, the U.S. economy.
